3)What got my attention about this page was the picture above his name on the original website. It looked really mysterious and adventurous, especially with the fog dancing in the background. There wasn't any articles that I saw on the website, just his portfolio. Looking at his photos I was very interested and engaged. There was a lot of visually interesting and eye catching things in a lot of his photos. He also has a very good use of color.

2) http://www.urbanautica.com/post/112047539339/phototalk-with-vincent-delbrouck

3) What compelled me to choose this article was the pictures. They are all very well composed and say a lot although they don't have a bunch of "things" in the photographs. I definitely get a sense of destruction or a painfully ordinary the subjects of the photograph are. The actual article is an interview with the photographer about his art. He's asked questions like, what his exhibits are about, does he prefer a DSLR or tape camera, etc. Most of the article is about what he does as a photographer and hoe he does it. Because of this I found myself a little disinterested in the article. The part that talked more about what he likes/looks for in his photographs were more interesting.

3) What got my attention about this article was the picture. I found it to be quiet charming, like there was telling a whole story about a man and his birds with only one frame. The picture is called Matisse with white doves. Clearly, the author of the article felt the same way because  a lot of the article talks about the picture and how he acquired it for Henri Cartier-Bresson. If anything I was curious about what I read. I wish he talked about what made Henri have the birds in the picture, did they mean anything special to the man in the picture or are they just his pets? Overall, I enjoyed it.

1) The New York Times

2) http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/20/arts/design/katarzyna-kozyra-looking-for-jesus.html?ref=design&_r=0

3) The compelling thing about this article, that made me click on the was its title, "Looking for Jesus". It caught my attention because you don't hear about too many people looking for Jesus. Just by using those choice of words, it sounded like they were literally looking for Jesus in the same way someone would look for their keys. This is weird considering that Jesus has been long gone for over 2000 years you would think one wouldn't look for HIm. The article was about a Polish artist that comes to Jerusalem to meet and talk with various people with "Jerusalem syndrome"-or believe they are characters in the Bible. She documented these people through pictures and a video (that we couldn't watch unfortunately). This article talked about some of her encounters and experiences. I thought the article was interesting and I really wish they had the video too. It honestly sounds like it would be something you would see on a TV show sitcom.

2) http://glasstire.com/2015/02/02/dallas-medianale-call-and-response-at-the-mac/

3) The pictures are what really made me select this article. The first one with the man jumping out of a window really got my attention because it was intense and, well, surprising. This article was about a visual/video exhibit in Dallas that has an undertone of "Call and Response"the music that's played and in videos that are remakes iconic videos. The article made me feel a bit confused, like I had to have been there to really understand what they're talking about or the author just knows something I don't. Reading it I just felt out of the loop.

2) http://lenscratch.com/2015/01/meryl-meisler-a-tale-of-two-cities-disco-era-bushwick/

3) This article was about Meryl Meisler and her friend Judith DeLong taking pictures while they went clubbing to capture the night life of  New York in the the 70's. What got my attention for this article was the title A tale of two cities: Disco era Bushwick. The reason it got my attention was the words "disco era", I knew it would be something interesting. Interesting was exactly what I got. I found it interesting because when I was reading it I felt like I was reading a movie about the adventures of two friends in New York.

Blog review 1

The name of this week's blog is Flak Photo. On this blog one particular article stuck out to me. It was called [hyphen] Americans http://flakphoto.com/content/keliy-anderson-staley-hyphen-americans. What got my attention was the title, not only was it the only one in brackets, but I felt like I could relate to the title. Like it somehow represented me.

This article was about how this artist would take photographs of people of various race, age, and gender then turn them into tintype portraits. The article gave some background information about tintype in how it's an American invention that's been around since 1855, but phased out in the 1930's. Ironically, the very reason it fell out of popularity was why photographer Keliy Anderson-Staley wanted you use them. It takes longer to develop because the image has to literally grow into the tintype, it also distorts the image, and everything is a reverse from it's original image. The purpose of doing this, as the article explains, is to not show "the truth, but a desire" and to "live their way" into the moment. I found this article to interesting because it really take photography to a different level of art, literally because it actually has depth, and also in an abstract way in that it alters reality into something more than what a regular camera can see.
